St. Mary took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Gilpin County Eagles by a score of 26-14.

Despite the loss, Gilpin County saw an underclassman step up: Ryan Marr picked up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Marr got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of60 yards.
St. Mary's will take on Akron at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Mary's is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. As for Gilpin County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake County at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th.
