After losing to the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs the last time they met, the Treutlen Vikings decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Treutlen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-53 win over Emanuel County Institute on Tuesday. With that win, Treutlen brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.
Treutlen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from JaNerriah Lovett, who scored 19 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Lovett has scored at least 25% of Treutlen's points. ShaCaria Jackson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Treutlen and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Emanuel County Institute, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Treutlen will be playing in front of their home fans against Jenkins County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Emanuel County Institute, they will head out on the road to face off against Screven County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Screven County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
