It was a good run, but the Kermit Yellow Jackets unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Alpine by a score of 67-65. The contest was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but Kermit couldn't quite close it out.
Kermit's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zeke Espino, who scored 15 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Julian Saenz, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Kermit's defeat dropped their record down to 16-12. As for Alpine, they pushed their record up to 23-5 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Presidio the next time they take the court. Kermit will head out to face the Blue Devils at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bucks will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
