Loretto is 1-8 against the Rangers since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Loretto Angels will head out on the road to face off against the Riverside Rangers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Loretto has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while the Rangers will arrive with 27 straight victories.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 67-35, which was the final score in Loretto's tilt against the Lions on Tuesday. Loretto was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-18.
Meanwhile, Riverside put the finishing touches on their 19th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Clint for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-41 victory on the road. Given Riverside's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 189th, while the Lions are ranked 825th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Sophiya Bustillos and Aylin Garcia. Bustillos had a great game and went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 6 assists. Meanwhile, Garcia did her best for the losing side, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds.
Loretto's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Riverside, their win bumped their record up to 29-1.
Loretto was taken down by the Rangers 74-23 when the teams last played back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Loretto was down 35-11.
