Great Crossing are still undefeated this season after their matchup against the North Oldham Mustangs on Tuesday, but the North Oldham Mustangs came as close as anyone has to beating them. Great Crossing had just enough and edged North Oldham out 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Great Crossing was led to victory by Junius Burrell and Malachi Moreno. Burrell scored 16 points along with five steals, while Moreno dropped a double-double on 20 points and 19 rebounds. The contest was Moreno's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vince Dawson, who scored nine points along with eight assists.
Great Crossing's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for North Oldham, their loss dropped their record down to 7-1.
Great Crossing will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Newport at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st. Hopefully Newport focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday. North Oldham will be home for the holidays to greet Washington County on Thursday. Washington County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
