The Bear Creek Bears will challenge the Valor Christian Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Bear Creek is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Chatfield on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 3-2. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Bear Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Hegerle, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Valor Christian earned a 9-4 victory over Columbine on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Joey Dragovich tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.
On the hitting side, Will Hayes was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Lowery, who went 3-for-4 with one run.
Valor Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Bear Creek now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Valor Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
Bear Creek's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Bears have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Valor Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bear Creek continue to outrun the ball?
Bear Creek got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Valor Christian by a conclusive 15-8 score. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
