The Campolindo Cougars will square off against the Berean Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
If Campolindo beats Berean Christian with 14 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Everything went the Cougars' way against St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Monday as they made off with a 14-8 victory. Considering the Cougars have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Paige Williams made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Cassidy Mintz was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Clara Hwang was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Berean Christian entered their tilt with Las Lomas on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 11-10 W against the Knights. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Holly Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Berean Christian let Olivia Kundysek and Leila Rhoads run wild. Kundysek went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Rhoads went 3-for-4 with two runs. Rhoads has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was LeAna Cimarra, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Berean Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Berean Christian pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Campolindo, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-9 record this season.
Campolindo might still be hurting after the 18-3 defeat they got from Berean Christian in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road?
