Softball Recap: Walled Lake Central Takes a Loss

Lakeland hit Walled Lake Central with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 9-6 to the Eagles. The Vikings have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Taylor Combs was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Melanie Bigham, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

Walled Lake Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Lakeland, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walled Lake Central will head out to take on Groves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakeland, they will venture away from home to square off against Grosse Pointe North at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday.
