Bound Brook extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-14. They fell 12-7 to the Henry Hudson Admirals. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Admirals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2016.
Joey Santicerma and Gabriel Valentin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Santicerma went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double, while Valentin got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That double was Santicerma's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Julian Chacon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
As for Henry Hudson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games.
On Henry Hudson's side, Jack Burton and David Ortore made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Burton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Ortore didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 5.1 innings pitched. Burton also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Henry Hudson is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise. At bat, Burton earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base, while Ortore went 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nathan Boms and Jack Dail did most of the damage at the plate: Boms went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Dail got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave Boms a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marshall Colangelo, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bound Brook will welcome Delaware Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Henry Hudson, they will host East Brunswick Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
