The Hokes Bluff Eagles pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 83-58 walloping at the hands of Rockmart. While losing is never fun, Hokes Bluff can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 244th in Alabama, while Rockmart is ranked 80th in Georgia).
Treylin Davis was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds for Rockmart. The matchup was Davis' tenth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Hokes Bluff and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Rockmart, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Hokes Bluff is on the road again on January 5, 2024 and play against Cherokee County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Rockmart won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Spring Garden at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th. Spring Garden has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 188 points over their last three matchups.
