The Hampton Crabbers waltzed into their game Tuesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They skirted past Menchville 48-46. Given Hampton's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Menchville is ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Malik Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Daron Baugh, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Hampton's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Menchville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.
Hampton will head out on the road to face off against Warwick at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Menchville, they will be playing at home against Phoebus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Phoebus has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
