The Holy Cross Knights struggled with threes on Friday (the Incarnate Word Academy Angels had six more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Holy Cross' tough 60-34 defeat to the Angels might stick with them for a while. Holy Cross was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-19.
Despite the loss, Holy Cross saw an underclassman step up: Kiandra Cirlos scored 16 points. Cirlos hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games.
Incarnate Word Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Romanczyk out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Romanczyk is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Brown, who scored 17 points.
Holy Cross' loss dropped their record down to 17-8. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they pushed their record up to 31-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home.
Holy Cross does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Incarnate Word Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
