Dilley is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Natalia a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Dilley Wolves will look to defend their home field against the Natalia Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Dilley has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lytle hit Dilley with a ten-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves lost 18-2 to the Pirates.
Dilley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Barrett Collier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Natalia). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Cotulla a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Andrew Arizola made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Natalia is undefeated when Arizola posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Moses Leija, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dilley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Natalia, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Dilley couldn't quite get it done against Natalia when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-3. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
