Miller County extended the longest winning streak in A Region 1 this week by beating Stewart County, 33-6. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Pirates.
Mitchell County took down Calhoun County 42-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Anfreenee Williams ran for 88 yards in the win.
On the ground, the Eagles' Jaquan Williams has rushed for 663 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jocquil Chester. The Mitchell County star has eight catches for 184 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Miller County takes on second place Seminole County. Last week, Miller County defeated the Knights, while Seminole County beat Randolph-Clay.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Indians take on the Pirates. Seminole County has allowed 149 points this season, while Miller County has given up 114. The Indians allowed 12 points last week as they defeated the Red Devils.
Stewart County made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 14,080 from 14,235. The improvement was the result of 33-6 victory over the Knights last week.
