Baseball Game Preview: Subiaco Academy Trojans vs. Hector Wildcats

The Subiaco Academy Trojans will face off against the Hector Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Subiaco Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Acorn on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-3 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Gabriel Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Subiaco Academy's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-5 when he doesn't). Rodriguez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. He also put up two triples, which were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Owen Pennington was incredible, firing off three home runs, four runs, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Grist, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Subiaco Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Hector posted their closest victory since April 24, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Westside.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-6. As for Hector, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
