Garrison extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 4-16. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 17-0 to the Woden Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in March.
As for Woden, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.5 runs.
For Woden's part, Riley Taylor and Autumn Bridges were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Taylor pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bridges struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Taylor has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Taylor got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Bridges went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Kooper Welch and Addison Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Welch went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs, while Addison went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Welch a new career-high. Jolette Montoya was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Garrison has already played their next contest, a 17-3 defeat against Broaddus on the 14th. As for Woden, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Chireno on the 14th.
