Basketball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends South Range's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but South Range unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell to the Austintown-Fitch Falcons 41-35. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Raiders came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Falcons are ranked 417th).

Marcel Finkley was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 17 on his way to 20 points and five steals for Austintown-Fitch. That's the most steals Finkley has posted since back in January. Ej Giles was another key player, putting up seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

South Range's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Austintown-Fitch, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

South Range will look to defend their home court on Friday against Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will take on Harding at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harding knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Austintown-Fitch likes a good challenge.
