The Trinity Christian Lions proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 32) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Starr's Mill and snuck past 48-46. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Trinity Christian.
Trinity Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jon Koger out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Koger has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ernesto Almonte, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Trinity Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season. As for Starr's Mill, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Grangers at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. LaGrange is on a six-game streak of home wins, the Lions a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Starr's Mill, they will head out on the road to square off against the Chiefs at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully McIntosh focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
