The Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers will head out to face off against the Capitan Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mesilla Valley Christian School has three straight victories, Capitan has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Jeremiah Sullivan made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. He has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 13 times he's played.
In other batting news, Mesilla Valley Christian School got a massive performance out of Weston Marr, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those five hits gave Marr a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Borde, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Mesilla Valley Christian School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .605. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Capitan lost 29-2 to Magdalena on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Steers since March 21, 2015.
Christian Marquez-Padilla was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Mesilla Valley Christian School's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Capitan, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Capitan's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mesilla Valley Christian School has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. It's a different story for Capitan, though, as they've only averaged .362. Will they be able to contain Mesilla Valley Christian School's hitters?
Mesilla Valley Christian School skirted past Capitan 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the SonBlazers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
