7A/6A West recap October 1, 2013
Bentonville was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in 7A/6A West. The Tigers defeated Har-Ber 45-20 earlier in the week.
Fayetteville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Van Buren, 45-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
The Wildcats' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kyle Pianalto threw for 276 and 2 touchdowns and Gus Vitt had 106 yards receiving. On the ground Sain Mathews chipped in 103 yards. Camden Scott helped Har-Ber's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 86 yards.
He was 17-40 with 3 interceptions.
Mathews was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 25 carries, he ran for 103 yards as Har-Ber fell to Bentonville. Teammate Nick Verucchi added to the ground attack by rushing for 34 yards.
Har-Ber's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Pianalto has thrown for 573 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Vitt has 22 catches for 359 yards.
The most important game in 7A/6A West this week will be the match up between Fayetteville and Springdale. Daryl Patton's team comes into the matchup ranked ninth in the state, while the Bulldogs ranks 15th.
The Bulldogs led the league in scoring this week after putting up 45 points on the Pointers.
