Astronaut is a perfect 10-0 against Space Coast since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The War Eagles will take on the Vipers at 6:00 p.m. Astronaut has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Astronaut lost 11-1 to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy on Friday. The War Eagles haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Astronaut saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Nason, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Space Coast can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Palm Bay 11-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Vipers' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Joseph Henry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Space Coast is undefeated when Henry posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise.
In other batting news, Kayden Thomas and Kellen Parsons did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Parsons went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Parsons a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Leos, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Space Coast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palm Bay only posted an OBP of .188.
Astronaut's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Space Coast, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-13.
Astronaut took their win against Space Coast in their previous matchup last Friday by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the War Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vipers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
