Basketball Game Preview: Cornerstone Prep Academy vs. Cherokee Christian Warriors

Cornerstone Prep Academy and Cherokee Christian are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. Cornerstone Prep Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cherokee Christian Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Cornerstone Prep Academy was fully in charge, breezing past Hearts Academy 91-29. Cornerstone Prep Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 27 points or more this season.

Cornerstone Prep Academy relied on the efforts of Carson Hicks, who almost dropped a double-double on 34 points and nine boards, and Seth Bledsoe, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 16 points and three steals. Bledsoe's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Dichiara, who posted five points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-65 heartbreaker at the hands of Unity Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (60), the Warriors still had to take the loss.

Cornerstone Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.7 points per game. As for Cherokee Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Cornerstone Prep Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Cherokee Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, sneaking past 69-66.
