The Onaga Buffaloes were the 43-32 winner over the Washington County Tigers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Onaga was the victim of a tough 55-35 loss at the hands of Washington County on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Onaga has suffered against Washington County since December 4, 2018.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jackson Kolterman, who scored 15 points. That was a full 42.9% of Onaga's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Rayce Fisher was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Onaga struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Onaga bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Washington County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Onaga will face off against Troy at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Troy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday. Washington County will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hanover at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hanover will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
