Even though the Marshall Owls scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, the Fulton Hornets still came out on top. Fulton snuck past Marshall with a 62-56 win. This was a revenge game for Fulton, as the team was forced to settle for a 68-60 defeat when these two played two weeks ago.
Marshall lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Stephen Caviness, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Deacon Arends, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Fulton's victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Marshall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fulton will challenge Kirksville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Kirksville's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Fulton has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Marshall, they will square off against Hannibal at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Marshall's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games.
