The Apollo Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Centennial Coyotes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Apollo took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 81-42 win over South Mountain. Given Apollo's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while South Mountain is ranked 264th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Apollo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Moreno, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Moreno is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah White, who scored 17 points along with 4 steals.
Centennial has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Fairfax 81-54 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Centennial.
Apollo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. As for Centennial, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Apollo took a serious blow against Centennial in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 83-49. Will Apollo have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
