The Highland Tech Rams suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They fell just short of Sugar Creek by a score of 63-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Highland Tech still got an impressive performance from Elijah Sherrill, who scored 30 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sherrill has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Whitted, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Aidan Gatewood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sugar Creek, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Gatewood has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayden Levan- Israel, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Highland Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Sugar Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Highland Tech will head out on the road to take on East Gaston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Gaston has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 413 points over their last six contests. As for Sugar Creek, they will be playing at home against Piedmont Community Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Piedmont Community Charter is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
