Baseball Recap: Lyons Has No Trouble Against Jefferson

While Lyons put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Jefferson. The Lions were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Saints. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Zack LaCrosse and Wyatt Fitzgerald made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, LaCrosse struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Fitzgerald pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Lyons is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise. At bat, LaCrosse earned three runs and one stolen base, while Fitzgerald got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs Fitzgerald has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake LaCrosse, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, he posted four RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Marcos Vavrina also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lyons always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Lyons back to even at 7-7. As for Jefferson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Lyons will square off against Estes Park at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson, they will take on Manual at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
