The Soquel Knights can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 66-58 win over St. Francis. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Nico Ramirez , who scored 20 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Soquel's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Bortz, who scored 12 points.
St. Francis' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sam Braun, who scored 25 points along with 5 rebounds, and Joseph Rose who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds. The contest was Rose's third in a row with at least ten points. Robert Gomez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
The last time Soquel lost on the road was back last Tuesday. Having now won three straight away contests, they've pushed their record up to 1-5. As for St. Francis, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-8 record last season and are now at 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Soquel will take on Ceiba College Preparatory Academy at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Francis, they will be playing at home against Gilroy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
