Basketball Recap: Brock Mccarter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Overton over Pleasanton

Overton was the 65-41 winner over Pleasanton when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Overton Eagles took a hard 72-58 fall against the Pleasanton Bulldogs on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Overton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brock McCarter, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. With that strong performance, McCarter is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Luther, who went 9 of 21 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Overton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Brennan Lindner continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pleasanton, putting up 30 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Zwiener, who posted ten points.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Pleasanton, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Overton will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Amherst at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Pleasanton, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 68-43 win against Wilcox-Hildreth on the 21st.
