The Evangel Christian Lightning can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They blew past Tuscaloosa Home Educators 74-45 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Evangel Christian has posted since December 18, 2023.
Evangel Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zion Thompson out in front who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Owen Bugnar, who scored 13 points.
The victory (which was Evangel Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 18-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evangel Christian on the road again on Thursday and play against Rocket City at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Rocket City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Evangel Christian is ranked 85th). As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, they will head out on the road to square off against North River Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North River Christian will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
