The West Park Panthers had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 47-35 victory over Wood on Friday. Given West Park's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 195th, while Wood is ranked 405th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Park was led to victory by Jaden Jackson and Westin Wade. Jackson threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, while Wade rushed for 100 yards and three touchdowns. Another big playmaker for West Park was Mason Johnson, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Despite the defeat, Wood saw an underclassman step up: Kimani Dokes rushed for 106 yards on only 15 carries.
West Park's win was their fifth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.6 points per game. As for Wood, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
West Park will head out on the road to face off against Placer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Placer has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 265 points over their last six matchups. Wood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
