The Fenton Tigers will take on the Eaton Rapids Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fenton 3, Eaton Rapids 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fenton is headed into the game having just posted their closest victory since May 10, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Linden.
Lillian Tillier was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Craven, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Eaton Rapids had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors an 11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kalli Ordiway was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abi Pratt, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Madaelen Putnam, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Fenton has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Eaton Rapids, they pushed their record up to 23-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fenton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Eaton Rapids struggles in that department as they've averaged .475. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
