Linden hasn't had much luck against Rahway recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Indians at 4:00 p.m. Linden has given up an average of 16.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Linden is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 27 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Union on Friday. They came up short against the Farmers, falling 17-0.
Rahway let J.P. Stevens stack five runs on them in the second inning on Friday but luckily Rahway prevailed anyway. The Indians came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hawks, sneaking past 10-8. The win was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Amanda Lebers made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Danielle Maher was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Yasmin Garcia, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Rahway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .423 or higher in three consecutive games.
Linden now has a losing record of 2-3-1. As for Rahway, their record is now 9-4.
Linden might still be hurting after the 22-2 loss they got from Rahway when the teams last played back in April. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
