Last Thursday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Summit Academy beat Layton Christian Academy 35-30. The win made it back-to-back wins for Summit Academy.
The match pitted two key players against one another: Avery Backus and Asmin Tanhan. Backus had a great game and scored 14 points along with four steals. Meanwhile, Tanhan did her best for the losing side, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Providence Hall suffered their biggest defeat yet this season last Tuesday. They were dealt a 84-46 defeat at the hands of Judge Memorial Catholic. Providence Hall just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Despite the defeat, Providence Hall had strong showings from Ireland Anderson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds, and Paige Krebs, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Summit Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Providence Hall, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Summit Academy strolled past Providence Hall when the teams last played on January 9th by a score of 54-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Summit Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
