Trion is 1-0 against Pepperell since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Trion Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Pepperell Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Trion comes in on seven and Pepperell on four.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Trion on the road against Chattooga as the team secured a 52-17 victory. The result was nothing new for Trion, who have now won five contests by 28 points or more so far this season.
Toby Maddux went supernova for Trion, rushing for 309 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Maddux's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Zach Camp was another key contributor, rushing for 82 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Pepperell's and Darlington's game on Friday was close at halftime, but Pepperell turned on the heat in the second half with 22 points. Pepperell put the hurt on Darlington with a sharp 35-10 victory.
Pepperell's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Tyler Rogers, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and Sam Ross, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Trion's win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-7 Gordon Central and 1-7 Chattooga (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.1% over those games). As for Pepperell, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
