Carey and Colonel Crawford are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Wednesday, Carey made easy work of Wynford and carried off a 16-6 win. The Blue Devils have beaten the Royals the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Royals has come to flipping the script.
Danika Hanna made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hanna was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Hanna wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tylinn Stoll, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Stoll has posted since back in March. Autumn Bouillon was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Carey hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Colonel Crawford came out on top against Bucyrus on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Redmen. Considering the Eagles have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Carey, Colonel Crawford also got a great game from a two-way player: Aubrey Betts. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Betts has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Friley, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Adalyn Bond, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
The victory got Carey back to even at 10-10. As for Colonel Crawford, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carey hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Colonel Crawford struggles in that department as they've averaged .357. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Carey's way against Colonel Crawford in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Carey made off with a 20-12 victory. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
