The result came thanks to Brooklynn Ostrowski's shutout, as she gave up just six hits.
At the plate, Kenna Newton and Sophie Finnegan did most of the damage at the plate: Newton went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, while Finnegan scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Coley Johnston, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Biggsville West Central made easy work of Galesburg on Thursday and carried off a 16-0 win. The Heat have beaten the Silver Streaks the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Silver Streaks has come to flipping the script.
Addie Seitz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Seitz was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Becca Hinshaw, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Addy Burrell was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.
Biggsville West Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
