The Fishburne Military Caissons will square off against the North Cross Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fishburne Military has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fishburne Military is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs last Thursday, they were much more limited against Blue Ridge on Thursday. They came up short against the Barons, falling 12-2. The matchup marked the Caissons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Fishburne Military saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Miller, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Simon Frankson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, North Cross got themselves on the board against Christian Heritage Academy on Saturday, but Christian Heritage Academy never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Knights. Considering the Raiders have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Tristan Lange made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for North Cross: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, Hanchen Ou was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of North Cross' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Ryan Thomas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
The victory made it two in a row for North Cross and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Fishburne Military, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fishburne Military has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North Cross struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fishburne Military suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to North Cross in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Caissons have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
