Softball Recap: Bellbrook Has No Trouble Against Edgewood

Bellbrook lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Edgewood, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Golden Eagles were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Cougars on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Abigail Hebrank (2028) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 16 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Heidi Pummell (2027), who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsey Kenney (2027), who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Pummell (2027) wasn't the only one making solid contact: Bellbrook kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Golden Eagles are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bellbrook is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.

Bellbrook will challenge Bishop Fenwick at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edgewood will be paying especially close attention to the Golden Eagles' game: after the Golden Eagles faces off against the Falcons, they'll take on Edgewood again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
