Softball Recap: Midtown Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Midtown, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Jackson Jaguars on Tuesday as they made off with an 18-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won eight matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Katie Tedder and Ava Anderson made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Tedder tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Meanwhile, Anderson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tedder has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Tedder went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Anderson went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Annie Evens, who fired off three home runs, nine RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Myla Marshall, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Midtown's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 3-14.

Looking ahead, Midtown will head out on the road to challenge Pace Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Midtown's pitchers better be ready for this one: Pace Academy has averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Jackson, they will be playing at home against South Atlanta at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
