Baseball Recap: Banks Drops Season-High Score on Catlin Gabel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Banks). Everything went their way against the Catlin Gabel Eagles on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-6 win. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Cris Medina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Banks got a massive performance out of Lincoln Holscher, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave Holscher a new career-high. Wyatt Jackson was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Banks always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Banks has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Catlin Gabel, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banks will head out to challenge Neah-Kah-Nie on Friday. The Braves are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Catlin Gabel, they will take on Horizon Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
