The West Valley Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the North Central Wolfpack at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Valley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, West Valley beat Deer Park 9-4.
Scout Symmes made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hewson Spencer, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Noah Clouse also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Central). Everything went their way against East Valley on Wednesday as they made off with a 15-8 win.
Like West Valley, North Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Nicholas Elliott. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Elliott also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because North Central is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-10 otherwise. Elliott was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Tavish Carruthers and Henry Ferguson did most of the damage at the plate: Carruthers went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Ferguson went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most hits Ferguson has posted since back in March.
North Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Valley only managed two.
West Valley's record is now 15-2. As for North Central, their record now sits at 6-12.
Everything went West Valley's way against North Central in their previous matchup on April 1st, as West Valley made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
