The Joplin Eagles came into Tuesday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 66-62 W over Carl Junction on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given Joplin's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 141st).
Despite the loss, Carl Junction saw an underclassman step up: Brody Pant scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Pant hasn't dropped below 22 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Endicott, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Joplin's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-17. As for Carl Junction, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Joplin will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carl Junction, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Willard is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
