The Cicero Prep Academy Centurions lost against the Santa Cruz Valley Dust Devils back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Cicero Prep Academy's tough 43-22 loss to Santa Cruz Valley might stick with them for a while. Cicero Prep Academy has not had much luck with Santa Cruz Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Among those leading the charge was Jianna Lopez, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Santa Cruz Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joselin Valenzuela, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Cicero Prep Academy bumped their record down to 2-5 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.2 points per game. As for Santa Cruz Valley, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cicero Prep Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Valley Lutheran at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hopefully Valley Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday. Santa Cruz Valley won't have much time to rest: their next game is against San Manuel at 5:30 p.m. on December 20th.
