The Holy Cross Indians are taking a road trip to challenge the Trimble County Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holy Cross is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
Holy Cross fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Cooper on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Indians have suffered since April 2nd.
Brady Neff was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trimble County). Everything went their way against Cornerstone Christian Academy on Monday as they made off with a 19-4 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Raiders with their most commanding win of the season.
Trimble County got a massive performance out of Nolan Hunt, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Hunt has posted since back in March. Jacoby Clark was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Trimble County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Trimble County and bumps their season record up to 8-15. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Holy Cross, their loss dropped their record down to 12-19.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Holy Cross has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trimble County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
