Basketball Recap: San Benito Extends Winning Streak to Three

San Benito extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Angelina Reyes. The San Benito Greyhounds blew past the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears 57-24 on Friday thanks in part to Reyes, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 21 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Vela, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in boards.

San Benito is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coincidentally, San Benito and Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will both be playing Hanna the next time they take the court. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will host Hanna at 10:30 a.m. on December 28th, while San Benito will host them at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
