Basketball Recap: Columbine Piles Up the Points Against Lakewood

Columbine won the last time they faced Lakewood and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Columbine Rebels blew past the Lakewood Tigers 76-35. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Kortny Brock continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 13 games she's played. Maddy Allen also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Columbine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Iben Last, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. What's more, Last posted three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Amber Martinez, who put up 11 points.

Columbine has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Lakewood has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Columbine has already played their next contest (against Chatfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lakewood also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Bear Creek.
