There's no place like home for the Ventura Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They took down Buena 58-41 on Monday. That's another feather in the cap for Ventura, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Caleb Sebek, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. Travis Valenzuela was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Buena still got an impressive performance from Luke Ortiz, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. Ortiz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of G. Wakine molina, who scored four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Buena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ventura only pulled down seven offensive rebounds.
Ventura pushed their record up to 9-15 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Buena, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-16.
