Springfield has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Ross Little Giants at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Springfield came up short against Clay and fell 45-35. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Springfield has scored all season.
Despite their loss, Springfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aaron Adams, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Pope, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Springfield struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ross also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Napoleon by a score of 61-51. While losing is never fun, Ross can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while Napoleon is ranked 95th).
Springfield's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5. As for Ross, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
Springfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ross when the teams last played back in December of 2022, but they still walked away with a 66-61 win. Will Springfield repeat their success, or does Ross have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
