It was a good run, but the Jeannette Jayhawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burrell. While losing is never fun, Jeannette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Burrell is ranked 57th).
Several Jayhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Markus McGowan, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Sunder, who scored 12 points.
Jeannette's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Burrell, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Jeannette will head out on the road to face off against Steel Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Burrell, they will be playing at home against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
